First dispute on deceptive similarity of law firm's name

In a first of its kind case, the Delhi High Court directed a law firm by the name Singh & Associates to use its name in the exact logo and style as applied for registration along with the name of its Founder beneath such logo to distinguish the firm's name from Singh & Singh Law Firm LLP, the plaintiff in this case.  In coming to such conclusion, the Court observed that the situation has to be assessed not just from the perspective of Indians, who would know "Singh" to be a common surname in India, but also from the perspective of foreigners who would be unaware of such fact and with whom both the firms has dealings.  The judgment can be accessed here
